Striker Wonderkids in FIFA 21
While it’s painful to concede goals in career mode, at least if you’re scoring goals, you’re having fun. If you don’t already have a prolific goalscorer in your squad, we’re here to help. A dependable striker or centre forward is absolute crucial to success. If you need convincing, here’s a quote from one of the greatest minds in football.
“Whichever team scores more goals usually wins.”
Michael Owen
You can’t argue with that logic. Without further ado, we present the best striker wonderkids in FIFA 21.
10. Ferran Torres
Positionally, he’s a winger first so his stats will look worse in the ST position, but also better as a CAM. In any case, his skillset is very appealing depending on the type of striker you like. He is a capable finisher, but you have to get into those positions. He shouldn’t have a problem though, thanks to his dribbling and acceleration. Not only that but four star skill moves means he can sit that last defender down before burying a shot. We won’t pretend he’s going to be cheap, but he’s already carrying a rating of 80 and that 88 potential might just tempt you to splash the cash.
9. Jonathan David
If your budget is somewhat limited, Lille’s Canadian forward could be a better option. He has the same potential (88) as Torres but is still 77 overall. Straight you’d be getting a really exciting striker, let us explain why. He’s also good on the ball but he’s considerably faster than Torres and is a better finisher. Five star weak foot means he’s going to be able to make the most of opportunities, even if they aren’t on his ‘favoured’ side. Not only that but he carries the solid player trait, so much less chance of him getting injured.
8. Giovanni Reyna
In terms of tradeoffs, Reyna doesn’t quite have the same finishing capability (yet), but he’ll be far cheaper. His 73 rating and a contract that expires in 2021 will make sure of that. But, if you prefer more of a centre forward, perhaps in the Firmino mould, Reyna could be your man. Even at his current level he’s useful at dribbling with the ball and creating smart link up play, he’ll be a gamechanger by the time he hits 88 overall.
7. Mason Greenwood
The Manchester United academy graduate has certainly exploded onto the scene and already bagged himself a 77 rating, but his 89 potential shows the best is yet to come. Good shot power, finishing and dribbling are a great start for any striker. Five star weak foot and the ability to shoot from distance means he’s deadly from anywhere. If all that wasn’t enough, he also carries the flair, finesse shot and outside foot shot traits – ideal for a goalscorer.
6. Takefusa Kubo
Similar to Reyna, he’s by no means useless in front of goal but is better playing as a CF. In that role you’d be getting a hardworking, skilful dribbler with a quick turn of pace. Wait for him to return to Real Madrid, hope he’s not grown too much from 75 overall and buy him. Rejoice as he enjoys a meteoric rise to 89 overall while terrorising defenders.
5. Erling Haaland
We’re just going to come right out and say it, we think Haaland has been robbed. 92 potential is in no way ‘bad’, but we thought EA might give him a bit more. Moaning aside, he’s already an incredible player, more than worthy of being one of the best striker wonderkids in FIFA 21. Fast and strong enough to get the better of defenders, with a clinical and powerful shot that will get the better of goalkeepers. Currently he’s 84 overall and already has the Complete Forward speciality.
4. Jadon Sancho
Haaland’s teammate at Dortmund already has a higher rating (87) but also has a higher ceiling at 93. If you can’t afford him now, you’ll have to play a game of chicken and hope he doesn’t renew his contract. Sancho has the same traits as Greenwood but his 5 star skill moves and elite dribbling ability will pique the interest of many.
3. Kai Havertz
The Chelsea new boy can really do a job as a centre forward, assisting his team mates and finishing chances. He’s already earned himself an 85 rating, but his 93 potential will take his game to another level. A fantastic dribbler with lots of pace and incredible shooting stats, what more do you want?
2. João Félix
Atletico paid over 100 million to secure his services and six years remaining on his contract means they’re determined not to let him go cheaply. Another name that is more suited playing slightly further back as a centre forward, the 82 rated striker has a great profile but his strengths are undoubtedly ball control and dribbling. Perhaps the 93 potential and his skill move level (five stars) will tempt you into breaking the bank to land him.
1. Kylian Mbappé
No real surprise here that the cover star tops the list of striker wonderkids in FIFA 21. 95 potential is well ahead of the rest and he’s already one of the best in the world thanks to his 90 overall rating. He’s already one of the fastest players in FIFA 21 but his dribbling, ball control and skill moves mean defenders are going to struggle to get the ball off of him. All of that is fantastic but you still need your striker to finish chances, and his 91 finishing attribute means he’s going to do that regularly. Has a huge price tag but his contract ends in 2022, can you strike a deal with PSG?
