FIFA 21 Full Back and Wing Back Wonderkids (RB, LB, RWB, LWB)
In years gone by, the full back positions were neglected, barring a few names there were no real superstars in this position. Fast forward to 2020 and the top teams have changed the way their full backs are used. This means more dynamic players are required, ones that can defend well but also offer something in an attacking sense. Here are the 50 best young full back wonderkids in FIFA 21, we haven’t forgotten about wing backs either!
Full Back Wonderkids in FIFA 21 – Top 50
50. Jordan Teze (RB)
Kicking off our list is this youngster from PSV. While it doesn’t look like right back is his natural position, his pace and stamina mean he can put a shift in on the wing. Starting at 70 overall with potential of 83, his workrates mean he’s more suited to sitting back.
49. Felix Agu (RB LB)
Listed as a left back but he’s right-footed so we would favour him at right back considering his three star weak foot ability. Rated 70 right now but should progress to 83 at his peak. Fantastic pace and agility, combined with a solid dribbling stat, high attacking work rate and even three star skill moves mean he’s a real asset going forward.
48. Alexander Bernabei (LB)
Currently rated at 70 overall and should hit 83 eventually. High attacking workrate, adept at dribbling and very pacey (92 acceleration and 91 sprint speed). It’s not listed in his profile but he would work well at LWB – use our True Position Calculator to check which players are more versatile than you think.
47. Joshua Vagnoman (RB LB)
Another member of the 83 potential club, but the Hamburg youngster starts out at 69. Can comfortably play on either side thanks to his four star weak foot rating. Plenty of pace and a hard worker going forward but the rest of his stats need some work, you could easily mould him into your perfect full back.
46. Melvin Bard (LB)
Given his 68 rating, the main attributes that standout to us are his acceleration, sprint speed and balance. There’s nothing wrong with a well rounded full back, he’ll surely improve on the way to 83 overall – his profile is certainly a more attacking left back.
45. Michał Karbownik (LB)
Officially listed as a left back but he’s right-footed, go figure. Rated 68 for the time being, he’s on loan at Legia Warsaw. One day Brighton might have an 83 rated full back on their hands. High workrates at both ends of the pitch with speed and stamina, ideal for his position.
44. Issa Kaboré (RB)
Like the previous two names, has 83 potential from a starting rating of 68. Kaboré inches ahead of them almost purely on the basis of his pace attributes – 91 acceleration and 89 sprint speed. Currently on loan from Man City but worth picking him up when available, his ability to ghost past his opposite full back will add so much to your attacking game.
43. Chris Richards (RB)
Primarily a centre back but his height and defensive solidity could be useful if you don’t need your full backs to bomb forward so much. Carries an overall rating of 67 right now but his 83 potential is why he’s at Bayern Munich.
42. Ethan Laird (RB)
Considering his 66 rating, the Man United youngster has a lot to offer. He’s pacey, good with the ball at his feet and can cross well. All of those attributes will only get better as he grows towards his 83 potential. Unfortunately he does carry the Injury Prone trait, but he’s worth the risk.
41. Cedric Teguía (LB)
Comfortable anywhere on the left side and is able to charge up and down the flank, thanks to his high workrates and stamina. He’s certainly not slow and a capable crosser of the ball, his FK accuracy and curve stats could make him one of the best free kick takers once he has hit his 83 potential. Currently on loan at Real Oviedo but he’s only rated 66 so should still be affordable after one season.
40. Killian Sardella (RB LB)
We like versatility, Sardella has four star weak foot so can play on either side – he also suits being used as a wing back. Rated 66 with 83 potential but we put him ahead of Teguía and Laird because his dribbling, ball control and passing stats are better.
39. Bećir Omeragić (RB)
Another 83 potential full back but his 63 rating means he should be a budget-friendly acquisition. Much more of a defender than an attacker, he does also play centre back.
38. Alejandro Gómez (LB)
Very similar to Omeragić, 63 to 83 and a defensive minded player who can play as a centre half. He’s not useless going forward though, but you won’t want to rely on him to create or finish chances. Not available immediately as he’s on loan at Boavista.
37. Timothée Pembélé (RB LB)
Only has a year left on his contract at Paris Saint-Germain, so pick up this 63 rated defender on the cheap. By the time he reaches 83 he will be a very impressive defender. If you plan on using him on the wing you might want to train his stamina to avoid him getting injured or caught out towards the end of matches.
36. Kerim Çalhanoğlu (LB)
Recognise the name? He is the cousin of Hakan Çalhanoğlu, the impressive free kick taker at Milan, previously Bayer Leverkusen. He doesn’t seem to have the same ability with free kicks but he is an impressive full back at 62 overall. Already has some very promising stats for his position but will be worth many times your initial outlay if he reaches his 83 potential.
35. Dennis Cirkin (LB)
For a 61 rated player, his stats are all very good – perhaps bar his crossing, which you can improve. The Tottenham academy graduate is thought of very highly at the club, and this is reflected in his 83 potential. Could be a very solid addition to your team given time.
34. Vitaliy Mykolenko (LB)
No we jump up to players with 84 potential, and initially that means a higher starting rating of 76. You won’t get as much growth from the Ukrainian but he will be able to start for most teams, a lot of the full back wonderkids in FIFA 21 still have low ratings.
33. Tyrell Malacia (LB)
84 potential but starting with a 75 rating means he should be available for less than 15 million providing he doesn’t have a release clause. A very good all-rounder with strong tackling and a lot of pace.
32. Evan N’Dicka (LB)
Officially a centre back but makes a very competent left back with his 74 overall rating. Surprisingly quick considering he is 6’4″ but is still able to be that physical presence in your defence. Already an accomplished tackler but that part of his game will improve even further on the way. to hitting his 84 potential.
31. Alejandro Centelles (LB)
Level with N’Dicka on a 74 rating and 84 potential, but edges ahead because his stamina is considerably better, as is his crossing. Only has two years remaining on his contract, so should be cheaper than N’Dicka too.
30. Liberato Cacace (LB LWB)
Cacace really surprised us, 84 potential from a 73 rating but there’s lots more to like. Supremely versatile given he’s comfortable anywhere on the wing. Four star weak foot ability means you can always play him on the right if you need to, or if you’re a tactical maverick playing with inverted full backs. Great on the ball and can advance the play well via a pass or cross. The Kiwi also has fantastic stamina (85), which goes nicely with his 86 acceleration and 82 sprint speed. As an added bonus, he possesses the long throw-in trait.
29. Jeremie Frimpong (RB RWB)
Only 19 but already learning his trade at Celtic, the 71 rated Frimpong has an impressive 84 potential. He’s primarily a right midfielder but his stats are just as good from the right back or right wing back positions. There are no real weak spots to be concerned about but his strengths are clear – a pacey dribbler that’s sure to put the fear into opposition defenders. The flair trait also adds a little something to his style of play.
28. Noah Katterbach (LB)
If you’re aiming for a left back with 84 potential but your budget is tight, Katterbach could be your man, given his 70 rating. He can dribble at speed, even if he’s not quite as electric as Frimpong – but he’s better defensively too.
27. Tariq Lamptey (RWB RB)
Fans of the Premier League will know that Lamptey has been seriously impressive for Brighton since Project Restart. Only given a 67 rating at the start of the game, he’s destined to hit 84 one day. If you’re unfamiliar with his play, he has a quick turn of pace and offers a lot going forward.
26. Tomás Esteves (RB RWB)
High workrates, four star weak foot ability and solid all-round stats – the ideal profile for a full back. The flair trait means he’ll be exciting on the ball, where his dribbling and crossing ability is sure to come in handy. Potential of 84 but he’s currently on loan from Porto, hopefully his rating doesn’t shoot up too much from 66 before you’re able to buy him.
25. Ki-Jana Hoever (RB)
Starting with a 63 overall rating and 84 potential, Hoever is your man if you’re not as worried about attacking and more concerned with defending. That’s not to say he’s useless going forward, because that’s just not true. We just want to offer some balance, lots of the full back wonderkids in FIFA 21 have heavy attacking attributes.
24. Owen Wijndal (LB)
Over halfway through our roundup of the best full back wonderkids in FIFA 21 and we’re already at a player with 85 potential. Considering his 77 rating, Wijndal has a balanced set of attributes – his crossing would be the main area to improve. 85 acceleration and 84 sprint speed will serve you well at both ends of the pitch.
23. Diogo Dalot (RB LB)
The 76 rated full back has been deemed surplus to requirements and loaned out by Manchester United but still has 85 potential. Able to play on either side, he’s adept at moving the ball up the pitch and crossing into the box. Annoyingly, he does carry the injury prone trait.
22. Tyler Adams (RWB)
At first glance he’s the same as Dalot (76–85), but we prefer Adams. His crossing is actually quite weak but the rest of his attributes are more balanced – making him more reliable in defence but also able to get involved in short build up play.
21. Brandon Williams (LB LWB)
Currently at Man United, 75 rated Williams is battling it out with Luke Shaw for the left back position. Great at dispossessing opponents and has more than enough pace, his future looks bright thanks to his potential of 85.
20. Tomás Tavares (RB)
Lots to like about this guy, hardworking in attack and great on the ball. Only rated 73 right now but some of his attributes are already above that level, he’ll be quite the player even before he hits the 85 mark. As an added bonus he has four star skill move ability, an unusual find in full backs. and wing backs. On the downside, he’s on loan during the first season.
19. Lutsharel Geertruida (RB)
Thanks to his height and jumping stat, Geertruida provides an aerial presence at both ends of the pitch. Even at 73 overall, his stats are pretty nice but they’ll improve a lot as he grows towards 85.
18. Dodô (RB)
The Brazilian also has 85 potential with a 73 starting overall, but we just feel he’s able to add more. The Shakhtar man has solid defensive attributes, he’s good on the ball and his sprint speed and acceleration are excellent.
17. Nuno Mendes (LWB)
Officially a wing back but should be even better at left back. Should be comfortable on the right, he has four star weak foot ability. Will go from 73 overall to 85 within a few seasons, his main strengths are pace and crossing
16. Nuno Tavares (LB)
Another Nuno, another 73–85 player and another full back with four star weak foot. Tavares has a bit more about him defensively, more to offer on the ball and he’s even faster than Mendes.
15. Viktor Korniienko (LB)
Dropping down to a 71 overall rating, while retaining the 85 potential. His defending is average but lots of his other attributes are very strong compared to his OVR. Physically he’s already very good, his crossing should be exceptional in time.
14. Neco Williams (RB)
Admittedly his stats don’t look like much, even when you consider that he is only 67 overall. However, there’s a solid foundation there that will only get better as he grows, levelling out at around 85.
13. Luca Netz (LB)
Considering he’s so high up the list of full back wonderkids in FIFA 21, it’s great that he’s only got a year left on his contract. At 63 overall, there are some clear weaknesses in his profile, but those will improve over time. He’s still only 17, so has plenty of time to reach 85.
12. Reece James (RB)
The first 86 potential player on our list is Chelsea’s seriously impressive youngster. EA isn’t always kind to emerging talents but we think 77 overall is very fair. Defensively sound and offers so much going forward, but can. you afford him?
11. Sergiño Dest (RB)
Possibly a little more affordable for someone with 86 potential because he starts out at 75, but then Barcelona have no reason to let him go cheaply. A defender’s worst nightmare, Dest has incredible pace, a high dribbling stat, four star skill moves and the flair trait.
10. Ryan Sessegnon (LB)
It feels like the hype around Sessegnon has died down a lot since he left Fulham, but he’s held on to a 86 potential stat. Currently on loan at Hoffenheim, he’s got lots of fantastic attributes for a 75 rated defender that suit attacking play. He can also play further up on the wing and from the right positions can prove deadly with the finesse shot trait.
9. Luca Pellegrini (LB)
Yet another name with 86 potential, Pellegrini should be more affordable on account of his 72 rating. The obvious complication here is that he’s on loan from Juventus, you’ll need to be patient. He already is and will continue to be an excellent crosser of the ball.
8. Rayan Aït Nouri (LB)
Despite his 71 rating, in real life he’s starting to show exactly why he has 86 potential. He is on loan at Wolves from Angers SCO but he should still be affordable when the summer transfer window opens. Again it’s nice to see someone so high up with good defensive stats.
7. Joško Gvardiol (LB)
An absolute workhorse that can also play at centre back but should be fine at right back too. Already physically strong but needs work in other areas. There’s a big gap between his current rating of 70 and the 86 potential he’s been given, plenty of time to train him as you see fit.
6. Bright Akwo Arrey-Mbi (LB)
This young German is going to be hugely popular with career mode players this year. 86 potential is always good, especially when he starts. out at 60 overall and only has two years to run on his contract. Already looks impressive defensively and thanks to his physical attributes.
5. Emerson Leite de Souza (RB RWB)
Jumping up all the way to 88, Emerson is a tempting choice on the right. He’s already rated 78 so he’s good enough for pretty much any team and has a nicely balanced set of attributes. One huge bonus is the fact he’s only contracted to Real Betis until 2021.
4. Bukayo Saka (LWB)
Quickly making a name for himself in the Arsenal and England setups, a 75 rating seems fair for now but he will be some player when he reaches 88 overall. He’s not the strongest defensively, so make sure you have another player covering his flank while he bombs up the wing. Lots of pace, fantastic on the ball and has. a great cross on him.
3. Marc Cucurella (LB)
Probably a familiar name if you’ve been playing career mode for the last few years. He’s still only 21 and has a whopping 89 potential to offer. He is rated 81 overall at this point, so he’s definitely not going to be cheap. A fantastic all-rounder if you can afford him, although we’d like his defensive awareness to be a little higher.
2. Alphonso Davies (LB)
Also rated 81 overall and also has 89 potential, but we think Davies is the superior player. Again, the Canadian isn’t going to be cheap but there’s so much to be excited by. 85 dribbling ability is great on it’s own, but paired with a 96 for acceleration and sprint speed, Davies will be able to cause all sorts of problems for your opponents. The flair trait is a nice addition but four stars for weak foot and skill moves will definitely come in handy.
1. Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB)
Not surprising at all, but entirely deserved – Alexander-Arnold has been an outstanding performer for more than two seasons now. It’s going to take an incredible offer to make Liverpool let him go, but you would be getting an 87 rated 21 year old, who can still grow to be 92 overall. He truly is a playmaker, his crossing is exceptional and his long passing is better than a lot of midfielders. Another fantastic bonus with TAA is his free kick ability, something possessed by very few full backs.
Full Back Wonderkids in FIFA 21 – Conclusion
In previous years, FIFA editions have seemed to be stocked with lots of talent at right back, but not many options on the left. This year there’s a really nice balance, if anything there are more left backs to choose from. With full backs it’s really down to your play style, don’t just focus on their potential – what attributes do you need them to have?
