Summary
Brexit means Brexit. Gain success by only using British players or simply avoiding the EU.
Brexit Challenge Rules
- Easy Mode: You cannot have any players from EU member states. This includes Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden.
- Hard Mode: You may only use British players. For those of you who are unsure what that means, it’s England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
- As the United Kingdom is due to leave the EU on 29th March 2019, all non-eligible players must be sold or released by this date. This means you have two transfer windows to sell players, summer 2018 and January 2019.
- Your scouts should also meet your eligibility criteria (depending on whether you’re playing on easy or hard mode).
Aim
The aim of this challenge is general success in the form of trophies, as this is a restriction based challenge. I would simplify the aim of this challenge into three steps.
- Offload foreign players.
- Sign British players.
- Pursue promotions and/or silverware.
Clubs
Although you’re already limited to choosing an English or Scottish team, why not choose a team from an area that heavily voted Leave.
- Lincoln City (League Two) – great choice considering their small transfer budget
- Mansfield Town (League Two)
- Stoke City (Championship)
- Doncaster Rovers (League One)
- Rotherham United (Championship)
- Walsall FC (League One)
- Blackpool FC (League One)
- Burnley (Premier League)
- Middlesbrough FC (Championship)
- Wigan Athletic (Championship)
- Wolverhampton Wanderers (Premier League)
- Sunderland (League One)
