Unable to Sell or Loan Players – Why is This?

FIFA 18, Q&A
Unable to Sell or Loan Players - Why is This? It's always great knowing that this site is useful for you guys. Usually this is inferred from the amount of people reading my content, but today I received an email from a reader who asked a question. Question 'I have started a career mode and I have purchased some players but I can't sell or loan out players. When I got to my players selection list I can block transfer requests and negotiate contract but add to the transfer list or loan out is not an option.' For clarification, this is when the 'Add to Transfer List' and 'Add to Loan List' options can't be selected in the squad hub on a particular player. We've discussed issues with selling and…

Transfer Talks Broken Down in FIFA 18

Transfer Talks Broken Down in FIFA 18

FIFA 18
Transfer Talks Broken Down in FIFA 18 If you're reading this post, I'm 99.99% sure it's because you've had multiple 'Transfer Talks Broken Down' emails and you're confused and or sick of it.   The Problem In FIFA 18 Career Mode, selling or loaning out players is incredibly difficult. Once you have received and accepted an offer for loan or sale, you wait. Hopefully you'll receive an email to say that personal terms have been agreed and the player has been loaned/sold (or will be). However, in FIFA 18 it's more likely that you'll receive an email like the one below, telling you that the player's transfer talks have broken down.     Just like that, the transfer or loan deal collapses. Because the talks are on personal terms, you're…

Scouting Ladders

Scouting Ladders

FIFA 18
Scouting Ladders Ok, if you came here from one of the challenges, you'll already have some idea what Scouting Ladders are about. If not, let me explain. Plenty of people keep asking for ways to make career mode more difficult or keep it interesting months after it's released. In my opinion, youth scouting is too easy once you have half decent scouts. One of the things I've done in previous games is set restrictions on where I can setup a scouting network, so it made sense to share that with you. If you're an experienced player or if you've read any of my guides on youth scouting, you probably go straight for the 'top' countries. By that I mean the ones that have historically had a better chance of producing…

How to Edit Player Appearance in Career Mode on FIFA 18

How to Edit Player Appearance in Career Mode on FIFA 18

Career Mode Guides, FIFA 18
How to Edit Player Appearance in Career Mode on FIFA 18 One of the reasons that FIFA continues to be successful year after year is the realism. Just to clarify, I'm talking about the official licence that allows FIFA 18 to use real player names, likenesses and so on. Of course this doesn't apply to players who haven't had their faces scanned by EA and generated youth players, but there's not much we can do about that. This option has existed for a while and I always thought it was quite pointless. Until I started signing players with small details in their appearance like wrist bands. The clearest example I can give is from FIFA 17, when I started a career mode as Tottenham Hotspur and signed Renato Sanches from…

How to Change Kit Numbers in FIFA 18

How to Change Kit Numbers in FIFA 18

Career Mode Guides, FIFA 18
How to Change Kit Numbers in FIFA 18   One thing that always makes me laugh about Career Mode is how invested we get in the small details. If like me, you enjoy keeping your career modes as realistic as possible, then FIFA's automated kit number choices will surely baffle and frustrate you. It tends to just give players the lowest available number that is 'relevant' to their position. You might just want to keep your youth academy players away from the low numbers until they've fully matured, purely for reasons of realism. Alternatively, you might want the numbers to accurately reflect your starting XI and their positions (scroll to the bottom). It's fairly easy to change kit numbers in FIFA 18, but I'll run you through the steps: 1.…

How to Increase Potential of a Player in Career Mode

How to Increase Potential of a Player in Career Mode

FIFA 18
How to Increase a Player's Potential in Career Mode Increase Potential Glitch in FIFA 18 Like most career mode players, you'll be trying to sign high potential players that will eventually grow into world beaters. But what about the other players in your squad? The ones that have some potential but perhaps aren't quite worthy of 'Has Potential to be Special' or 'An Exciting Prospect'. What if there was a way to increase potential in these young players? Perhaps you'd be able to hold onto the real world players a bit longer rather than resorting to youth scouting. Follow the steps below to increase potential in your players.   1. Identify Suitable Players The only criteria for this trick is that it can only be used on young players. I've…

Chelsea in League Two: What Happens?

Chelsea in League Two: What Happens?

Experiments, FIFA 18
Chelsea in League Two: What Happens? Why? You've never wondered what would happen if you drop Chelsea FC into League Two? No? Just me then. With any simulation it's fun to play around with it and see what happens. FIFA career mode is no different. I've run this same test before with previous versions of the game but wanted to document it this time. The question I'm trying to answer is 'What happens when you move a Premier League club into League Two?'. I chose the English leagues because they are the only ones in FIFA 18 that have four tiers. This gives me a better opportunity to see what happens with promotions or relegations over a longer period of time. Of course dropping a team into League Two is…
