Five Star Skillers in FIFA 21

If you’ve spent the time and effort learning skill moves for FIFA, it only makes sense to add players to your squad who can actually pull them off. Here are all of FIFA 21’s five star skillers, or players who are capable of performing the more challenging 5-star skill moves. We’ve also written up a guide on all the skill moves in FIFA 21 and how to perform them.

All 54 Five Star Skillers in FIFA 21

Ilsinho

Five Star Skiller, Ilsinho

Having more than 50 five star skillers on this list means the ratings are a little low to start with. Rated at 68 overall, Ilsinho is a capable dribbler at RM and CAM with the flair trait.

Gary Mackay-Steven

Up to 69 overall and in Mackay-Steven you’ve got a pacey dribbler on the wing who also has the Acrobat speciality, even if he is injury prone.

Juan Rojas

Currently playing for Delfín SC, Rojas is a really pacey winger who also carries the flair trait. In FIFA 21 the 27 year old is rated 69 and is also pretty good at getting shots away at goal.

Aiden McGeady

Of all the five star skillers, he’s the only one to have a move named after him! He’s 34 and rated 70 now so past his best and there’s a good chance of him retiring at the end of the season.

Alexandru Maxim

A versatile, 72-rated midfielder who still has plenty going for him. He also has the flair and finesse shot traits.

Farid Boulaya

Also rated 72 overall but has two years on Maxim. The Algerian winger has a nice profile that includes solid stats for crossing, free kicks, dribbling and pace.

Chanathip Songkrasin

Another 72-rated player, this CAM/CF has a fantastic burst of pace. He also has the flair and early crosser traits, as well as the injury prone one unfortunately.

Matías Fernández

Our first player with a 73 rating, Fernández is already 34. However, he only has a year left on his contract at Colo-Colo and his free kick accuracy stat stands out.

Yannick Bolasie

Contracted to Everton until 2021, Bolasie could be a smart signing for you if you’re shopping for five star skillers and could use a pacey winger with a 74 rating.

Hatem Ben Arfa

Never quite fulfilled his potential but a 75 rating would still be good enough for many teams. He’s always been a skilful dribbler but he’s a good free kick taker and has good long shot ability.

Luciano Acosta

A diminutive winger and midfielder, Acosta has not yet reached his prime so his 74 rating should turn into 75 or more. His contract is running down so you could bag a pacey dribbler for very little.

Eljero Elia

Didn’t quite make our list of the fastest players in FIFA 21 but 90 acceleration and 89 sprint speed is not bad at all. The Dutchman is rated 76 and he’s an excellent dribbler and acrobat.

Hernâni

Frustratingly, he is on loan in the first season but he would be an upgrade on Elia. Firstly he’s five years younger than him and he’s also faster. Has an overall rating of 76 and dribbling rated at 84.

Ricardo Centurión

He’s pacey, has fantastic stamina and is an excellent dribbler. Another winger but he’s ranked slightly higher with a 77 rating.

Marcelino Moreno

The 25 year old can play on the wing or in midfield, where his pace and dribbling can be put to good use. Currently sitting on a 75 rating but can hit and even exceed his 77 potential.

Ignacio Piatti

Yes his rating is higher at 78, but he’s 35 years old now so probably not the best signing. If you did manage to get him, he does also have a powerful long shot on him.

Stephan El Shaarawy

Years ago, he was one of the wonderkids you would always sign on your career mode. It didn’t quite work out that way for him in real life but his 78 rating is still very useful on the left wing.

Nani

Past his best but Nani still has an 80 overall rating, five star weak foot, excellent dribbling and the ability to unleash long range shots on goal.

Evander

Don’t be fooled by the Midtjylland midfielder’s 73 rating, he’ll develop a rating of 80 within a few seasons.

Franck Ribéry

Considering his 81 rating and his impressive skillset, he would be a good addition to most squads. Sadly, he’s 37 now and unlikely to continue playing beyond this season.

Marlos

He’s 32, but you could still get your money’s worth. His contract expires in 2021, at which point you could pick up an 81 rated RM with incredible dribbling and a great finesse shot.

Juan Cuadrado

If you need a five star skiller on your right wing, Cuadrado could be your man. He will be more expensive than Marlos but his profile is better, despite the same 81 rating.

Eduardo Salvio

His stats aren’t quite as good as Cuadrado’s, but he still has an 81 rating. Not only that but he’s not 30 yet so shouldn’t decline as quickly. He is injury prone but also carries the flair trait and made it onto our list of players with the giant throw-in trait.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Still has good years left him but he’s unlikely to be a bargain. Still, at 81 overall he can offer lots beyond just being a five star skiller, namely dribbling, free kicks and long shots.

Quincy Promes

An impressive and versatile player, 81 rated Promes won’t be a bargain buy. However, he would be worth the outlay thanks to his speed dribbling style, even if he’s 28 years old already.

Federico Bernardeschi

Worth a look if you need a readymade player (80 overall) that still has a little room for growth (82 potential). He has a really well rounded profile that isn’t dependent on pace to hurt teams.

Gelson Martins

A player that did actually make our list of the fastest players, Gelson Martins is the type of winger that FIFA players love. He has 82 potential, starts at 79 overall and holds the speedster, dribbler, engine and acrobat specialities.

Zlatan Ibrahimović

At 38 years old, it’s unlikely that you’d be able to get Zlatan to sign a new contract, but definitely worth trying. Rated at 83 overall now, he still has traits for flair and outside foot shot. Not only that, he has six specialities – poacher, strength, distance shooter, aerial threat, clinical finisher and complete forward.

Marcelo

Even at 32, Marcelo’s 83 rating means he still has plenty to offer at left back. An exceptional dribbler and crosser, his ability to perform five star skill moves makes him an even bigger threat.

Douglas Costa

On loan at Bayern from Juventus so not an option in your first season. However, he’s a five star skiller that plays on the wing and has an 83 rating, what’s not to like?

Coutinho

The third Brazilian in a row, you probably know what Coutinho has to offer. 83 overall, with a taste for free kicks and long distance shots.

Wilfried Zaha

Five star skiller, Wilfried Zaha

Renowned for his pace and direct dribbling style, Crystal Palace’s 83 rated winger can also perform five star skill moves (assuming you know how to use them).

Amine Harit

If you’re looking for a five star skiller with a little potential, Harit holds a 77 rating now but will reach 83 soon enough.

Silas Wamangituka

This Congolese attacker also has 83 potential but he’ll be much more affordable because his rating is only 71 to begin with.

Jorge Carrascal

You should be able to get this CAM from River Plate for less than his 7 million price tag. Currently rated 73, this playmaker will reach 84 before he hits 30 years old.

Thiago

Having just signed for Liverpool and carrying an 85 rating means he’s not going to be immediately available or cheap when he is.

Riyad Mahrez

Manchester City's five star skiller, Riyad Mahrez

The City winger will be expensive but should make an immediate impact given his 85 rating.

David Neres

Still only 23, Neres is a really promising talent at Ajax. The 80-rated winger/attacking midfielder is already a really fast dribbler, he’ll keep improving on his way to 85 overall.

Roberto Firmino

Liverpool’s centre forward has an impressive 86 rating and lots of attributes that suit link up play, but don’t overlook his goalscoring abilityy.

Hakim Ziyech

Surprisingly he’s already 27 but his rating should still grow from 85 to at least 86. His crossing ability is unreal and the fact he already has the complete midfielder speciality says a lot.

Allan Saint-Maximin

He’ll eat up a huge portion of your transfer budget but he will certainly be worth it. He’s already a handful for defenders with his 80 overall rating and could be a superstar for your team by the time he reaches 86.

Ángel Di María

With less than a year remaining on his contract at PSG, you can add an 87 rated winger to your team for a cut price. He’s a fantastic player all round but his free kick ability really stands out to us.

Paul Pogba

Whatever the discussion about his real life performances, his quality is there for all to see in his FIFA profile – 86 overall with 87 potential. Another complete midfielder with a contract running down.

Memphis Depay

Aside from being a pacey five star skiller, he’s also a free kick specialist and is great at long shots. Not only that but his 84 rating will increase to 87 soon enough and his Lyon contract is expiring soon.

Rayan Cherki

Of all the five star skillers, Cherki is arguably the best if you’re looking for a high potential youngster. The 16 year old has a massive 88 potential but is only rated at 68 right now.

Ousmane Dembélé

Barcelona’s 83 rated winger is still clinging onto a promising 89 potential. He’s prone to injury which is concerning but he’d still be a quality addition to your team.

Martin Ødegaard

Matches Dembélé’s headline figures (83/89) but Ødegaard has a more varied profile and is injury resistant thanks to the solid player trait.

Neymar Jr

If you can afford this five star skiller, you know you’re getting one hell of a player. A 91 rating, five stars for everything and has both the Complete Midfielder and Complete Forward specialities.

Marcus Rashford

Rashford can put his five star skill move ability to good use up front or out on the wing. His already impressive attributes will keep increasing as he grows from 85 to 91 overall.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Into the top five and we finally come to one of the best known five star skillers. Considering his age, his physical stats will be in decline but most of what makes up his 92 rating will hold steady.

Jadon Sancho

A hugely exciting talent, the combination of skill moves, speed and technique can unlock even the most stubborn defences. His 87 rating would be enough to get him into most teams, at 93 he’ll be one of the best in the world.

João Félix

Also has an impressive 93 potential, but his initial rating is just 82. His contract length is twice that of Sancho’s so it’s not clear cut which would be cheaper.

Vinícius Jr

Another attacker with 93 potential, Vinícius Jr has an 80 rating to start with. He’s already lightning fast and an outstanding dribbler but his other attributes will develop with time.

Kylian Mbappé

Being the cover star of FIFA 21, it’s not super surprising to see Mbappé top several of our lists. His 90 rating and 95 potential mean he is without doubt the most highly rated of the five star skillers this year.

Giant Throw-In Players in FIFA 21

Giant Throw-Ins: Under-utilised?

They’re rarely used but long throw-ins are a fantastic weapon in career mode and FUT. The ability to change a fairly innocent looking throw-in into a goalscoring opportunity without warning adds an extra dimension to your game and keeps your opponents guessing. There are only 56 players in FIFA 21 capable of throwing the ball huge distances, and we’ve rounded them all up for you.

All 56 FIFA 21 Players with Giant Throw-In

Tony McNamee (LM CM)

Tony McNamee is capable of taking long throw ins

Because we want to include all players with the giant throw-in trait, we have to include players with very low ratings. At 57 overall he’s not all that exciting but he’d certainly be cheap.

Kristoffer Hansen (LM RM)

Another cheap option but the Norwegian is rated at 62. He also has the possibility of some growth with 63 potential, he’s at Sandefjord Fotball currently.

Martín Galmarini (RB RM)

Now we jump up to players with a 64 rating. You’re not going to get any growth from him, or any longevity, he’s 38 already.

Ben Tozer (CB)

Not really a long-term signing at 30 years old but the Cheltenham Town defender has a 64 rating and the giant throw-in trait you so desire.

Seth Sinovic (LB)

Another jump up to 65 overall, the American is 33 already but at least he’s a left back so a natural choice to take throw-ins.

Damian Zbozień (RWB RB)

Also rated 65, Zbozień plays on the other side to Sinovic. Although he’s the ‘wrong’ side of 30, his physical stats mean he’s still capable of bombing up and down the wing.

Seo Bo Min (LM RM LWB)

A year younger than Zbozień, the 65 rated Korean is versatile and has a good amount of pace.

Ryan Jackson (RB)

Gillingham’s right back is another year younger at 29 and also has a shorter contract. Despite his 65 rating, he’s got great pace and fantastic stamina.

Yaseen Barnawi (RB)

Another right back, Barnawi’s profile doesn’t have the same standout strengths – but he’s only 26 so should grow from 64 to 65.

Adolphe Teikeu (CB)

A solid 66 rated defender who can also provide a threat with his Power Header trait. Currently playing for BB Erzurumspor in the Turkish league.

Christian Schwegler (RB)

A real mixed bag with this FC Luzern defender. 67 rated, but he is 36 years old already – not a long term option by any means. He does carry the Leadership trait, but is also considered Injury Prone.

Jalil Anibaba (CB LB)

Younger than Schwegler but his attributes don’t offer a whole lot to get excited about. He’s ok defensively for a 67 overall player and has good stamina and strength, never a bad thing.

Sim Sang Min (LB)

As well as his 67 potential, the 66 rated Korean has a decent profile. Pretty well rounded, although you might want some more defensive stability.

Lion Schweers (CB)

His main strength is his er, strength. For a 63 rated defender, he’ll be bullying opposition strikers of a similar level. He only has a year left on his contract and should grow to reach 67 eventually.

Lee Han Do (CB)

A very similar profile to Schweers actually. Starts out at 62 but will develop into a 67 rated centre back, using his strength to his advantage.

Bart van Hintum (LB CB)

At 33 years old he’s really more of a quick fix. But, if you need someone with the giant throw-in trait and a 68 rating isn’t too low for you, he could be a good choice. An added bonus is the fact he can provide a threat from dead ball situations thanks to his free kick accuracy and curve.

Rodrigo Noya (CB)

Another “quick fix”, on account of his age. If a 68 rating is in the right ballpark for you, his 90 strength rating and the fact he’s 6’4″ could be very useful.

Matt Besler (CB)

This 69 rated centre back would also suit playing as a defensive midfielder, thanks to his excellent range of passing. As well as the giant throw-in trait, he also possesses the Leadership and Team Player traits.

Marc Roberts (CB)

Not quite 30 years old, the Birmingham defender could be a solid, if unspectacular choice. Has a 69 rating that isn’t likely to change, at the other end of the pitch he does have good heading accuracy.

Jonas Knudsen (LB CB)

Knudsen is currently 27 so his value should for a few seasons. Currently rated 69, he’s comfortable playing in the centre of defence or on the left, where his giant throw-ins are more useful.

Samúel Kári Friðjónsson (CM CDM CAM)

Only rated 62 as it stands but this versatile Icelander holds a potential of 69. Comfortable on the ball but don’t expect him to run past opponents, his sprint speed is only 40.

Edwin Velasco (LB)

If you’re looking for a left sided full back with a 70 overall rating, Velasco is worth a look. Pacey, strong and has incredible stamina (90).

Daniel O’Shaughnessy (CB)

Rated 65 and has 70 potential, the 25 year old could be a really good buy if that’s your level. A really nicely balanced profile of attributes, although he is prone to picking up injuries.

Yannick Schmid (CB)

Comparable to O’Shaughnessy, he has 64 overall and 70 potential. His stats seem to be more focused on his defensive and physical attributes.

Nicholas D’Agostino (ST)

D’Agostino could be a really interesting option for a number of reasons. He’s the first striker on our list so far and relies upon his pace to beat defenders. Only a year remains on his contract at Perth Glory, so you could pick up the 62 rated goalscorer relatively cheaply and reap the rewards once he hits 70.

Paul Aguilar (RB)

Back to defence but we’re now talking about players with 71 rating/potential or higher. A really hardworking full back with good crossing ability.

Kian Hansen (CB)

If you’re looking for short term cover at the back (with the added bonus of the giant throw-in trait), Hansen could certainly do a job. He shouldn’t be too expensive for a 71 rated player and his passing means he can also play CDM.

Aron Gunnarsson (CDM CM)

Might be a free agent on your save, in which case the 71 rated defensive minded Icelander would be a good addition to your squad, even if he is injury prone.

Kelvin Leerdam (RB LB)

Running down his contract at Seattle Sounders, this 71 rated full back can play on either side of defence. The physical portion of his profile is the strongest, particularly his 88 jumping ability – deadly if you get him in the box for set pieces.

Nemanja Miletíc (RB CB)

This 29 year old Serbian has a respectable 71 rating. Aside from being able to launch throw-ins a great distance, he also possesses the very useful Engine speciality.

Luisinho Conradi (LB)

Here’s one that you should really take a look at. Doesn’t have any definitive potential beyond his 71 rating, but he’s only 20 so dynamic potential could play a big role.

Jay-Roy Grot (LW ST RW)

The Leeds attacker is another name you should pay attention to. Only rated 64 right now but has 71 potential and you’ll be able to pick him up cheaply because of his contract. Aside from the impressive throw-ins, he’s quick, strong (89) and has a powerful shot on him.

Federico Lértora (CDM CM)

Not much growth potential beyond the 29 year old’s 72 rating. A solid midfield option to shore things up and offer the giant throw-in trait you’re looking for.

Jamilu Collins (LB)

No official potential for the Nigerian but he’s only 25 so his rating could easily grow from 72. Shouldn’t cost you too much and his quick turn of pace will always be useful on the wings.

Callum Paterson (ST CAM)

Paterson is a great target man thanks to his strength, height and jumping ability. He’s rated 70 at the moment but should increase to 72, if not more.

Christian Fuchs (LB CB)

He’s 34 now but the Premier League winner could still do a job for you, he’s still rated 73 overall. He only has a year to run on his contract and you’d be getting a solid defender who can deliver excellent crosses into the box, as well as huge throw ins.

Christopher Antwi-Adjej (LM RM)

Incredibly pacey, he only narrowly missed out on making out our list of the fastest players in FIFA 21. Rated 72 with 73 potential, he also possesses the Acrobat speciality.

Claudemir (CDM CM)

A solid choice if you’re in need of a 74 rated midfielder that should be available on something of a discount.

Osmar (CDM CB CM)

A 74 rating in these positions is useful, but Osmar is a good choice if you’re looking for size rather than speed. He’s 6’4″, has 93 strength and a handful of traits, including power header. His contract with FC Seoul expires in 2021.

Andreas Poulsen (LB LM)

Poulsen is the first of two Danes on this list that could provide excellent value thanks to their growth prospects. Only rated 65 currently but will reach 74 in due course.

Mads Bech Sørensen (CB)

Also has 74 potential but this centre back starts out even lower at 61 overall. He’ll develop into a very capable defender so pick him up from Brentford while you can.

Mariano Bíttolo (LB LWB)

Bíttolo is already 30, so he’s not one for the future. However, at 75 overall he’s a good choice if you’re struggling to get the ball into the box. As well as the giant throw-in trait, he also has the early crosser trait, on top of his impressive crossing stat.

Javier Aquino (LM)

Putting his age aside, there’s a lot to like about Aquino. For someone with a 75 rating, he’s incredibly fast, has the acrobat speciality and also has four stars for weak foot ability and skill moves. Not only that but he’s got less than a year left on his contract if you want to buy him from Tigres.

Hörður Magnússon (CB LB)

A nicely balanced profile at 73 overall, he’ll develop further on the way to 76. He’s also able to step out of defence and start moves with his passing.

Rodney Kongolo (CDM CM)

There aren’t really any standout attributes to mention in Kongolo’s profile, but that doesn’t mean that will be the case when he reaches 76 overall – he’s only 69 currently.

Jetro Willems (LM LB)

Still only 26 so his 76 rating can easily grow to 77 in time. Capable of delivering pinpoint curving crosses into the box (especially with the early crosser trait) but has four star weak foot so can also cut inside. The Frankfurt man is out of contract in the summer and could be an excellent addition to your squad.

Faouzi Ghoulam (LB)

Napoli’s Ghoulam is another solid choice if you need to vary how you get the ball into the box. As well as the throw-in trait, he’s a great crosser of the ball and can also hit powerful (if inconsistent) free kicks, rated 78 overall.

Gazzolisco (LB LWB LM)

78-rated Gazzolisco’s power free kicks are more accurate than Ghoulam’s, he also carries the engine speciality and five star weak foot ability. His high aggression (94) means more often than not he’s successful in winning the ball.

Andrija Živković (RW LW RM)

Another player with power free kick ability, he’s a skilful dribbler who can also chip in with goals thanks to his finesse shot trait. The PAOK winger is rated 74 but is destined to reach 78 overall eventually.

Michail Antonio (ST RM LM)

It’s hard to believe he’s 30 already, but with just a year left on his contract, Antonio could be a shrewd short term acquisition. At 79 overall, he’s a powerful and pacey attacker, and also has the power header and flair traits.

Wilson Manafá (RB LB)

Starts out with a 76 rating but will increase to a solid 79. His pace and dribbling ability means he’s excellent at carrying the ball up the wing, whichever side he’s playing on.

Nils Fröling (CF ST)

Nils Froling, Giant Throw-in specialist

This 20 year old had fantastic growth potential, expect his 66 rating to rocket towards 79 overall. If you wait until January, he’ll only have 6 months remaining on his contract at Kalmar FF.

Eduardo Salvio (RM RW)

Salvio is the first player so far to be above 80 for his rating or potential (both 81). The Boca Juniors man is a skilful and pacey dribbler who is also capable of finishing chances.

Chancel Mbemba (CB RB)

Still only 25, so Mbemba will develop from his current 76 rating and hit 81 eventually. If you haven’t played with him before, he’s a fantastic defender who can also pose a threat from set pieces.

Julian Weigl (CM CDM CB)

Another player that we thought was older, the ex-Dortmund midfielder is only 24 years old. He’s an excellent playmaker with his 79 rating, he’ll have no problem hitting his 82 potential.

Weston McKennie (CM CDM CB)

Weston McKennie, Giant Throw-In specialist

The highest ranked player with the giant throw-in trait is USA and Juventus (on loan from Schalke) midfielder Weston McKennie. The 21 year old is currently rated 75 overall, his defending, heading and physical stats are already very good – they’ll only get better considering his huge 84 potential.

Fastest Players in FIFA 21

Got the Need for Speed?

In years when pace rules the FIFA meta, you can’t do without it. Even when that’s not the case, it’s supremely satisfying to leave a defender in the dust, or rush back and kill off a counter attack. Whether you call them fast, quick, rapid, speedy or swift, we’ve rounded up the (objectively) fastest players in FIFA 21. If you’re unsure of the difference between the two pace stats we reference, we recommend you give our FIFA attributes guide a read.

Fastest Players in FIFA 21 – Top 50

Arvin Appiah (RM LM) 64 OVR

Kicking off our list of the paciest, speediest and fastest players in FIFA 21 is Almeria’s Appiah. 92 acceleration, 93 sprint speed and a mouthwatering 84 potential.

Martin Boyle (RM RWB ST) 70 OVR

Jumping up to 93 sprint speed and 93 acceleration now, and it only gets better from here.

Luis Advincula (RB) 74 OVR

This Peruvian right back also has 93 for both sprint speed and acceleration. He is 30 now, so might start to decline and lose his pace.

Mathis Bolly (RM LM ST) 67 OVR

If you’re looking for 93 acceleration and 93 sprint speed, Bolly might be a more affordable option.

Kensuke Nagai (ST) 69 OVR

The first out and out striker on our list, he will be cheap but his 93 speed and acceleration will decline rapidly.

Álvaro García (LM RM) 72 OVR

93 sprint speed and 93 acceleration. 27 years old so should hang onto those numbers for a few years at least.

Abdoulay Diaby (RM LM) 75 OVR

At 29, he’s right on the edge where you can just about hold onto his physical stats for a few seasons. An impressive 93 for both pace attributes.

Thievy Bifouma (LM RM) 74 OVR

If you need a pacey winger, Bifouma’s 93 speed and 93 acceleration will do nicely. Only has two years left on his contract with Shenzhen FC.

Héctor Villalba (RM LM RW) 74 OVR

His profile picture should be enough proof that he means business. 93 for both attributes, plus four star skill moves is a nice bonus.

Hirving Lozano (RW ST LW) 80 OVR

A versatile forward, Lozano matches the previous name for speed and acceleration. On top of that he has a 90 agility attribute and even better, a potential rating of 83.

Gyrano Kerk (RW ST) OVR 75

Doesn’t quite have the same agility as Lozano, but can equal his 93 acceleration and 93 sprint speed. Can grow by 5 to an 80 rating.

Sirlord Conteh (RM) 62 OVR

Yes it’s a step down in overall rating, but we like to cater to everyone – not just those who can afford a squad of 90+ players. He is a really affordable option for those shopping at this level, plus he has a potential of 67. 93 for both stats again.

Trent Buhagiar (RW CAM) 62 OVR

His rating can rise to 68 eventually, meaning he might even increase his sprint speed and acceleration stats (both 93).

Allan Saint-Maximin (LM LW ST) OVR 80

Already lighting up the Premier League, he has 93 sprint speed, 93 acceleration and even 93 agility. Given his 86 potential, Newcastle might have a job holding onto him

Rabbi Matondo (LM ST RM) OVR 70

One of the first really exciting names on our list of the fastest players in FIFA 21. Bear in mind he’s only 19 years old and has a potential of 83, so don’t be surprised if his acceleration (93) and sprint speed (93) grow further.

In Seong Kim (LM CAM) OVR 71

You won’t see any growth from this player, but he does have 92 acceleration and an impressive 94 sprint speed.

Takeshi Kanamori (ST LM) 62 OVR

Depending on your situation, Kanamori could prove a better option than Kim. Also has 92 acceleration and 94 sprint speed but he’s only 26 so won’t lose his pace for a few years.

Lirim Kastrati (RW LW ST) 69 OVR

Lots of good stuff in the Kosovan’s profile, even without taking his acceleration (92) and sprint speed (94) into account. Only 21 and will add another 10 points to his overall rating in time.

Leroy Sane (LM) 85 OVR

Surprisingly low on our list, he has the highest sprint speed so far with 95, but only 91 acceleration. However, he’s still an incredible player who will hit 90 overall before long.

Jérémy Doku (RW LW) 71 OVR

Let’s start by pointing out that his sprint speed is only 91, but his 96 acceleration means he’ll get up to full speed faster than others. He also has massive growth potential, he’ll hit 88 some day and you better hope you don’t have to play against him.

Rhayner Santos Nascimento (RM) 69 OVR

Unlikely to hold onto his stats for very long, but you’ll still get a good season or two tearing defences apart with his 94 acceleration and 93 sprint speed.

Yony González (RM ST) 75 OVR

You can get a solitary growth point from him, so he won’t soar in value. At least his sprint speed (93) and acceleration (94) will hold steady for a few years.

Georges-Kévin Nkoudou (LM) 75 OVR

Never really got going in the Premier League but his 78 potential means he’s still worthwhile. Another name with 94 acceleration and 93 sprint speed.

Kingsley Coman (LM RM RW) 85 OVR

The second Bayern Munich winger on this list, we also expected Coman to be a little higher. In any case, 94 acceleration and 93 sprint speed more than qualifies him for the speedster speciality and if you can afford him, he has 88 potential.

Hwang Hee Chan (ST) 77 OVR

The Leipzig striker might already be on your shopping list because of his 82 potential. If you still need convincing, his acceleration is 94 and his sprint speed is 93.

Rafa Ferreira Silva (LM RM) 83 OVR

Switching the two numbers around, the Benfica winger has 93 acceleration and 94 sprint speed.

Rashad Muhammed (ST) 60 OVR

A big drop in overall rating but at that level, his pace is going to be unstoppable. 93 acceleration, 94 sprint speed and 61 potential.

Frank Acheampong (ST LW) 76 OVR

Only has a year left on his contract and still has a little room to grow, so could be a cheap way to acquire a player with 94 sprint speed and 93 acceleration.

Iñaki Williams (ST RW) 81 OVR

Offers more than pace but 93 acceleration and 94 sprint speed are the reasons why he’s on this list. His 84 potential makes him tempting but you’ll have to pay a premium, he’s contracted to Athletic Bilbao until 2028.

Falaye Sacko (RB) 78 OVR

So far, most of the fastest players in FIFA 21 have been wingers and strikers. A right back with 93 acceleration and 94 sprint speed, Sacko could be a fantastic addition to your team. 83 potential means he’s only going to get better with time.

Sebastián Villa (RM RW LM) 75 OVR

This Colombian winger possesses 94 sprint speed and 93 acceleration, not to mention 81 potential.

Przemysław Płacheta (LM) 69 OVR

Norwich have a very impressive player here, another speedster with 93 acceleration and 94 sprint speed. He’ll be cheaper if you can buy him before he hits his 79 potential.

Krépin Diatta (RW LW ST) 77 OVR

Changing things up a little bit, the Club Brugge forward has 95 sprint speed and 92 acceleration. Considering his 85 potential, he could be a starter in your squad for years.

Sadio Mané (LW) 90 OVR

Truly an incredibly player. At 28, he should hold onto his 95 acceleration and 93 sprint speed for a few seasons. Absolutely rapid, but he’ll cost you in the region of £100m, if not more.

Chidera Ejuke (LW) 75 OVR

Can match Mané’s 95 acceleration and 93 sprint speed, but will be about a tenth of the price. A great investment because of his 82 potential.

Nikola Mileusnić (LM RM) 65 OVR

If you’re managing in a lower level league, we really recommend Mileusnić. There aren’t many speedsters at this level, having 94 for both pace attributes is incredible. He should be an absolute bargain because his contract is running. out.

Tom Barkhuizen (RM ST) 72 OVR

If you need 94 acceleration and sprint speed, but need a slightly higher level player, find this guy at Preston.

Igor Madinha (RM CAM) 72 OVR

No official growth potential but he’s still only 24 so could still improve. Another player with 94 for both stats but he’s likely to be more expensive than Barkhuizen.

Gelson Martins (RM RW) 79 OVR

You’re not going to get this guy from Monaco on the cheap, but if you desire 94 acceleration and 94 sprint speed in a top level player, Martins is your man. Still only 25 and has the ability to hit 82 after a few seasons.

Aurélio Buta (RM RB RWB) 76 OVR

Another winger with both 94 acceleration and 94 sprint speed. Buta might be the best option so far considering his 81 potential and the fact he has one year left on his contract.

Achraf Hakimi (RM) 83 OVR

Because we value sprint speed over acceleration, Hakimi’s 95/93 comes in ahead of the 94/94 club. It feels like Hakimi has been around for years, but he’s still only 21 and has an impressive 81 potential.

Leon Bailey (LM LW) 80 OVR

95 sprint speed and 93 acceleration, but will be cheaper than Hakimi. Bailey would provide an excellent outlet for you on the wing and will keep growing at least until he hits 85 overall.

Moussa Diaby (LM LW) 81 OVR

Just like Bailey, Diaby is a left winger who plays for Leverkusen. However, he starts out slightly higher and has a much higher ceiling (88). His pace stats are also slightly different, with 93 sprint speed and 96 acceleration.

Ismaïla Sarr (RM ST) 78 OVR

Potentially more affordable but still carries the promise of an 87 rating eventually. 94 sprint speed is one of the best we’ve seen so far, 95 acceleration means it doesn’t take him long to get up to full speed.

Aníbal Chalá (LB) 69 OVR

The last out and out full back we’ll see this high up the list, he has an insane 96 sprint speed and 93 acceleration. Not the highest rating but can reach 76 soon enough.

Vinícius Jr. (LW) 80 OVR

Won’t be cheap, but you might not care. Has 95 for both his sprint speed and acceleration but his 93 potential means he has so much more to offer.

Daniel James (RM LM CF) 77 OVR

Marginally faster than Vinícius Jr thanks to his 96 acceleration on top of 95 sprint speed. Won’t reach the same heights but 83 potential will be plenty for some teams.

Kylian Mbappé (ST LW RW) 90 OVR

Not just one of the fastest players in FIFA 21, but one of the best in the whole game. A 96 rating for both pace attributes makes him absolutely unstoppable. His 95 potential might make you consider buying him, his contract situation means he might be more affordable than you’d expect.

Alphonso Davies (LB LM RM) 81 OVR

Canada’s main man also sports a 96 for both attributes, probably more affordable than Mbappé but not cheap. Only 19 years old, he has plenty of time to fulfil his 89 potential.

Adama Traoré (RW RWB) 79 OVR

The Wolves man is top of our list, and deservingly so. A sprint speed of 96 and 97 acceleration is bad enough, add his 87 strength to the mix and he’s literally a juggernaut. He has plenty of technical ability too and looks set to improve thanks to his 85 potential.

FIFA 20 Release Date

EA Sports FIFA 20 is set to be released on 27th September 2019. If you want to get your hands on it as soon as it’s released, but can’t be bothered to head to the store at midnight, pre-order your copy using the links above.

As you would expect, FIFA 20 is set to be released on all major platforms – PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Our previous blog discusses the likelihood of us seeing FIFA 20 on Google Stadia.

Career Mode

At this time, little is known about what is planned for career mode in FIFA 20. The cynics think it will be scrapped, the more optimistic players are expecting a radical overhaul. We’re expecting something in the middle, but we’ll have to wait and see. EA have promised an in depth update on career mode at the end of July. We’ll update the article when we know more about it. The fact that it’s been mentioned sounds promising, or are we setting ourselves up for disappointment?

VOLTA Football

Rumours had been building for a long time that EA were working on an updated version of FIFA Street. For those of you that weren’t playing FIFA between 2005-2012, FIFA Street aimed to capture the essence of street football. Small games that don’t take place on a traditional football pitch, using (and often, abusing) skill moves to outplay the opposition. Four instalments of FIFA Street were released during those years, to mixed reviews. However, the games have developed something of a cult status amongst players.

Skip forward to June 2019 and EA have just announced VOLTA (translates as ‘to return’ in Portuguese) Football. They also enlisted the help of Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and PSG to help them promote this new game mode.

The FIFA 20 reveal trailer has a heavy focus on the new VOLTA Football mode.

What is VOLTA Football?

EA are using the tagline “Break New Ground” to suggest something, well, groundbreaking? But isn’t it just a reworked version of FIFA Street? Well yes and no.

Yes, because it is street football at its core. Set on small arena style pitches, it is a form of football where close control and skill moves are used to outmanoeuvre opposition in close quarters.

No, because we haven’t seen a version of FIFA Street for seven years. Despite a lot of criticism (plenty of it valid), the game has moved on in that time. Yes you can say it’s taken a backward step in some areas, but the gameplay and graphics are better. Don’t forget that the FIFA Street series was released on the previous generation of consoles, PS3 and Xbox 360. The first iteration came out on Playstation 2 and the original Xbox!

Positive Signs?

Another arguable improvement is the fact that it is a game mode included with FIFA 20. You won’t have to shell out for the cost of an additional game this time. This means it’s built on the same game engine, so a lot of the gameplay (see below) will be similar. It’s really down to personal preference but the realism this time around is likely to be a big improvement. Nothing against the cartoonish avatars of Peter Crouch and Ronaldinho we saw in the previous series, but VOLTA doesn’t appear to be as much of a button basher as its predecessor.

“EA Sports volta takes football back to the streets with the authentic culture, creativity and style of the small-sided game”

EA Sports – FIFA 20 Promotional Website

VOLTA Football Game Modes

Interestingly, VOLTA will be playable across three game modes; story, online and kick off. The presence of a story mode makes it likely that VOLTA will take over from The Journey in FIFA 20. There’s been no mention of Alex Hunter or The Journey in the promotional material we’ve seen so far, so it’s safe to assume EA have moved on from that game mode. The online mode will consist of a league, where you can be promoted and relegated much like in Online Divisions. Kick off is the other mode available within VOLTA and would appear to be a standard kick off mode – but giving you the ability to put professional teams into the game mode.

If you’re a fan of professional futsal, you’ll be pleased to know that you can play to those rules in this mode. For something more casual, it’s a standard 4v4 or 5v5 mode. Want more chaos? Abandon the goalkeepers completely and play ‘rush’ in 3v3 or 4v4. Another possibility for customisation is the ability to use the walls or not, we think it’s too tempting to play the ball against the wall and skip past an opponent.

Leave the Pitch Behind

Perhaps not escaping the arcade game vibe completely, VOLTA will a number of different arenas or playgrounds set across the globe. So far we’ve seen a rooftop pitch in Tokyo, an underpass in Amsterdam and perhaps most pleasing is a London estate inspired playground cage.

Customisation

Finally we come to customisation. In 2019, with the meteoric rise of the likes of Fortnite, it’s unavoidable. So VOLTA will allow you to customise your in-game avatar with clothing, hairstyles, tattoos and celebrations. Expect everyone to say they hate it, but 100% of players will be using it. Our first thought on this subject was microtransactions. It’s a divisive subject but often acceptable when the game itself is free. Thankfully, EA have confirmed that vanity items will be unlocked via gameplay rather than a credit card.

FIFA 20 Gameplay

First of all, let’s set some expectations. This is the fourth FIFA title to use EA’s Frostbite game engine. FIFA 14, 15 and 16 were all built on IGNITE, so the switch to Frostbite 3 for FIFA 17 was a big deal. The even more obvious limitation? FIFA 20 will be released largely on consoles that are six years old. With the next generation of consoles rumoured to be released in 2020, this is likely to be the final release with PS4 and Xbox One leading the line. Until the PS5 and Xbox’s Project Scarlett are released, there’s only so much that can change year to year. It’s worth pointing out at this stage we are talking about the gameplay, at an engine level. We appreciate, and in fact agree, that EA could be doing more to improve the likes of career mode.

With that out of the way, let’s talk about the gameplay in FIFA 20. This year, they’re calling it “Football Intelligence”, a rehash of the gameplay system designed to offer more realism.

Authentic Game Flow

EA are promising an improvement to AI defending, which many players will be happy to hear. AI defenders will provide “intelligent” defensive support, working with the user-controlled player rather than against. Improved tackling is mentioned but most importantly, defensive positioning has been worked on.

Natural Player Motion is pretty self explanatory, this should add more realism and hopefully feels less like scripted animations.

Taking players on seems to be an obsession of EA’s, they can’t release a trailer without having an attacker skilfully beat a defender. Therefore it’s no surprise that Dynamic one on ones are listed as a feature, this seems to centre around the pace of a game and player spacing – intentionally leading to more dynamic take ons.

Decisive Moments

There’s a few things to unpack here, but this is all about giving the player more control at key moments during a match. Let’s start with defending again, Controlled Tackling will combine the “Active Touch System” and brand new tackle animations. The idea here is that cleaner tackles are more likely to result in you winning and keeping the ball. Sounds promising, but we’ll give you a second while you have a flashback of every perfectly timed tackle you’ve ever made where the ball bounces straight to an unmarked opponent.

The new Strafe Dribbling mechanic sounds vague when talking about agility, but we presume it’s going to offer a more realistic style of slower dribbling.

Free kicks and penalties seem to be changed each year so seeing Set Piece Refresh on the list is no surprise. We’re unclear on what exactly “deeper options” means, but pushing towards a more skill based system sounds like a good idea.

Last year’s game added timed finishing, this year it’s being called Composed Finishing. This is also promoted as an overhaul to the shooting system, a consistent mechanic that offers the ability to be clinical but also gets the risk and reward balance right.

Ball Physics System

It’s clear to see that ‘realism’ is a recurring theme in the way EA are talking about FIFA 20. Ball spin and bounce will be governed by what they’ve called Football Informed Motion. Presumably that just means someone who actually watches football? More interesting to us is the addition of New Shot Trajectories. Swerved set pieces already exist to our knowledge, but you’ll now be able to hit shots that dip or rise – as well as the notorious knuckleball. We see the chances of at least one of these being completely overpowered when the game is first released as very likely.

All in all, the changes mentioned don’t sound that different to it’s predecessors, but we’ll know more in July.

Pro Clubs

Another game mode that we’ve been promised an update on is Pro Clubs. It’s always been quite popular, if a little hamstrung by the tendency for every player to bomb forward, regardless of their assigned position. Don’t get us started on the afros. We should know more about this at the end of July.

Ultimate Team

The controversial one. There is no denying it is the absolute priority for EA, considering the player engagement and (most crucially) the additional revenue it brings. The slow crackdown on loot boxes seems unlikely to halt this juggernaut, so don’t expect it to go away. We’ll have an update for you on Utimate Team in August.

Google Stadia: Will FIFA 20 be available?

What is Google Stadia?

While the announcement is an exciting update in the world of console gaming, Google Stadia is not technically a console. Rather, it is a cloud gaming platform. This will enable players to buy games and stream them over the internet, instead of purchasing a physical console and game discs.

“NO CONSOLE REQUIRED TO PLAY YOUR FAVOURITE GAME”

Phil Harrison – Vice President and GM, Google

How does it work?

Operating through the Google Chrome browser, players will be able to stream games to a variety of devices. This includes any screen connected to a Chromecast, Pixel 3 phones as well as laptop and desktop computers.

An internet connection is required and will directly impact the quality of your gaming experience. Google are recommending a speed of at least 30Mbps for those who want to stream games in 4K resolution. As long as your internet speed is above 20Mbps you’ll be able to play in 1080p, with HDR video and 5.1 surround sound. 10Mbps is slated as the minimum, and will reduce you to 720p and stereo sound. 60 frames per second is the standard, regardless of your connection speed.

How much will it cost?

Providing you have the equipment and an internet connection, Google will be offering a free version called Stadia Base. However, this will be limited to lower resolution and sound quality.

Stadia Pro will offer improved features, but is a paid plan. For £8.99 a month, you’ll be able to play in up to 4K resolution with 5.1 surround sound (depending on your internet connection). This subscription would also give you access to additional free games, as well as exclusive discounts on select games. Reassuringly, any games purchased would still be available to play if you cancelled your subscription and switched to Stadia Base.

Ahead of launch, Google will be heavily promoting the Stadia pre-order offering. The “Founder’s Edition” will cost £119 and includes a Google Chromecast Ultra (£69 value) and a Night Blue Stadia Controller (pre-order exclusive, other controllers £59 value). As well as instant access on launch day, you’ll be able to secure your Founder’s Stadia Name and receive a Founder’s Badge. Also included is 3 months access to Stadia Pro and a Buddy Pass so you can gift 3 months access to a friend. That’s almost £155 of value, without counting the Buddy Pass and the founder privileges.

When is it released?

Google Stadia will launch in November 2019, conveniently close to the Christmas period. It also looks like a strategic decision to launch the platform a year before Sony and Microsoft release their next consoles.

What games will be available?

Brief glimpses of gameplay were shown during the announcement video, but the Google Stadia website lists the following titles.

  • Football Manager 2020
  • NBA 2K
  • Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
  • Destiny 2
  • The Elder Scrolls Online
  • Wolfenstein: Youngblood
  • Final Fantasy XV
  • Ghost Recon Breakpoint
  • Tomb Raider Trilogy
  • Borderlands 3
  • Farming Simulator 19
  • The Crew 2
  • Mortal Kombat 11
  • Darksiders Genesis
  • Metro Exodus
  • Trials Rising
  • Just Dance
  • The Division 2
  • Gylt
  • Samurai Shodown
  • Get Packed
  • Rage 2
  • Thumper
  • Baldur’s Gate 3
  • Grid
  • DOOM Eternal
  • Dragonball Xenoverse 2

It’s worth pointing out that this list isn’t exhaustive. Gaming platforms live and die by the titles that are made available for them, so Google will be working hard to secure a strong pipeline of releases. This means many more games will be available in future, but we’d also expect additional titles to be added before the launch.

Will FIFA 20 be on Google Stadia?

It’s unclear at this stage, but the absence of FIFA 20 from the list of titles above or any promotional materials will have disappointed many.

Right now, our feeling is that it is unlikely for FIFA 20 to be available on Google Stadia at launch. The FIFA Series is a huge title and would have almost certainly been involved in pre-launch promotion. Likewise, EA Sports have released an update on FIFA 20 that didn’t mention Google Stadia at all.

However, it seems unlikely that EA Sports could resist the opportunity to increase their player base, given the commercial success of Ultimate Team over the last decade. There’s no reason why they couldn’t launch on Stadia midway through the game cycle, although that would likely irritate players that had already purchased a version for PS4, Xbox One or PC.

How to Increase Shirt Sales in FIFA 19

Board expectations and objectives add another layer of realism to career mode, but players can often find them frustrating. Many of the brand exposure objectives offer little information on how they can be achieved. Luckily for you, we’re here to help when it comes to increasing shirt sales.

How to view Player Shirt Sales

Before we get into how you can increase shirt sales, you need to know how you’re performing currently. Otherwise you’ll be in the dark about your progress for this particular objective.

Time needed: 1 minute.

How to view your current player shirt sales.

  1. Office

Inside career mode, scroll to the Office tab.

  2. Finances

    Select the Finances tile.

  3. Transactions

Use R1/RB to scroll to the Transactions tab.

  4. Player Shirt Sales

In this list of transactions, there will be a Player Shirt Sales section for each week. It will tell you how much you’ve earned from shirt sales in that week and the top three highest selling shirts. Looking at previous weeks, you can also assess whether your actions are having the desired impact.

Sign ‘Big Name’ Players

This tip seems a little vague but the game does seem to recognise when your club completes a transfer for a big name player. Generally this will be measured on their overall rating. You’re looking for players with a high overall, but more specifically players that have an OVR that is higher than your average in that position.

Keep an eye on your Top 3 Players

Remember we told you how to view your current shirt sales performance? In that section, it will tell you who your top three players are. This might not be the top three players by overall rating, but in the eyes of the fans. Keep a note of these and watch out for changes, these three players are very important to this objective.

Play your Top 3

Once you know who your top three players are, play them regularly. We’d assume that more important games have a bigger effect, but even pre-season tournaments are an opportunity to boost this. You’ll need to rest and rotate your stars, but even subbing them on for the final five minutes of a game counts as an appearance.

Keep them in-form

Big name players and fan favourites are great, but it doesn’t mean much if they aren’t playing well. Good performances in games will affect their form, and both of these things will affect shirt sales. It will help if all or most of your top three players are attackers, goals and assists are the easiest way of getting good match ratings.

We hope you find these tips useful, don’t forget that there can often be a delay in the game updating your progress. Don’t be dissuaded if for example you sign a big player but shirt sales aren’t impacted right away.

Quick Subs – How to Use Them

Quick Subs

What are Quick Subs?

They’re a relatively recent addition to FIFA, primarily aimed towards online game modes as a way of saving time. However, career mode can be very time consuming and we appreciate any opportunity to save time.

Quick subs are effectively pre-planned substitutions that can be quickly activated during a match, without having to pause the game and go through the menus.

It genuinely feels a lot smoother and makes so much sense when most of your substitutions are predictable. For example, if you have two good strikers and always bring one on after 60 minutes, this is a great time saver for you.

How to Use Quick Subs

Time needed: 2 minutes.

The following steps will guide you through the process of setting up quick subs and using them in a match.

  1. Team Management before a match

The important thing to note here is that quick subs have to be set up before a game. You can do this directly before a game, or in the team management area in career mode if you’d like to keep these settings (they can be edited later).

  2. Pick ‘Player Off’

Make sure your lineup is to your liking, then pick the player that you’re most likely to want to substitute. Players that do more running (wingers and central midfielders) are a good pick, have low stamina attributes, as well as players that have an able deputy on the bench. Scroll to the player and hold the R2/RT trigger button down FC Barcelona team sheet in FIFA 19

  3. Pick ‘Player On’

While holding the R2/RT trigger, select the player on the bench to replace the original player. Confirm your selection and you’ll see a small icon next to both players with a number 1.Quick subs in FIFA 19

  4. Repeat

There are three slots for quick subs, so repeat steps 2 and 3.

  5. Activate Quick Subs Menu

During the course of a game when the ball goes out of play, the quick subs option will appear. Just like in the image, it’s a small prompt to hold the R2/RT trigger. You only have a limited amount of time to do it so you’ll have to be quick.Using quick subs during a match

  6. Select

Using the left analog stick, you can select which of your quick subs you want to use and hit X/A to confirm.Barcelona Quick subs

How to Create Regens with 90+ Potential

First of all, if you’re wondering “what are regens?“, you should go and read our guide on regens and pregens.

However, if you’re up to speed we’ll go ahead and explain our idea and why we think it’s really useful.

As you know, when players retire in career mode, that’s when the game decides to create regens. This stops the database of players from dwindling a few seasons in. However, the process isn’t random, players are effectively reincarnated. Brought back to life in a new body with a new name, but born in the same country and playing the same position on the pitch.

At this point, the problem should be obvious. Because the game isn’t able to randomise the process when it decides to create regens, history repeats itself. Many players who enjoy how easy it is to cheat the game, wait patiently for regens of Messi and Ronaldo to appear a few seasons in, before snatching them up on the cheap.

Does it Matter?

Maybe not. It definitely won’t matter to everyone. But we find it annoying that it’s the same players every time. The leagues with the best players will stay that way and the dominant international teams will remain stocked with talent.

So, we figured out a way to shake things up a bit. While we can’t really stop all the big names becoming regens, we can create regens from scratch. Throughout your career, incredible players will emerge – but they won’t be a reincarnation of a real world player. Want an amazing striker from San Marino to show up? How about a world class centre back from Madagascar? Read on and we’ll show you how.

How to Create Regens with 90+ Potential

Follow our straightforward instructions to create regens with ‘Has Potential to be Special’ potential.

  1. Update Squads

Before you enter career mode, go to the Customise tab and select Edit Teams. Then select the Download Updates option.

  2. Create a Player

Back up to the Customise menu and select Create Player. You’ll be presented with a lot of choices but most are completely pointless. We’ve outlined the essential steps below.

  3. Select Nationality

As we’ve already discussed, nationality doesn’t change when a player regenerates. You’ll have the ability to select any country, not just from the small list that you can select during youth scouting.

  4. Select Team

The main consideration here is actually the league. When the player retires, the created regen will appear in the same league. But also consider that the original team will have this player for at least a season.

  5. Select Position

As we know, this is the other area that is fixed with regens. Frustratingly, not all positions are available here. You’re limited to GK, RB/LB, CB, CDM, CAM, ST. For some reason, RWB/LWB, CM, CF and RW/LW aren’t available.

  6. Set Date of Birth

This is important because the process relies on the player retiring reasonably early in your career (if you hope to see the regen develop fully). Assuming a July 1st birthday, a birth year of 1988 would make the player 30 in the first season. 1983 would make them 35 years old. Take into account that retirement age varies anyway, especially across different positions. If you want a higher chance of them retiring after one season, make them closer to 40 years old.

  7. Set Attributes

This isn’t hugely important as we’ve found that when you create regens, they are always ‘Has Potential to be Special‘. The quickest way is to just give them 75 points for each attribute. Obviously it might be a bit strange having a very highly rated player in a lower league, but they’ll decline quickly due to their age.

  8. Save & Exit

If you’ve just spent five minutes creating a player, make sure you save before exiting. Hit ‘done’ and you’ll be presented with the option.

  9. Repeat Steps 2-8 (optional)

If you’d like to add more than one custom regen, you just need to repeat what you’ve already done.

  10. Start Career Mode

When it comes to the settings, make sure you select ‘Current Squads’, as this will include all created players.

Create Regens, Then What?

It really depends on how you like to play FIFA career mode. You could of course track the original players, wait for them to retire and purchase their regens. Entirely valid, but we think career mode is easy enough as it is.

Our preference is for you to simply leave them, even better if you can forget them (easier if you’ve created more than one in each position). The result of this is four fold:

  1. Stops the monotony of top players only coming from the typical nations (Spain, Germany, France, Argentina, Brazil etc).
  2. Can make traditionally ‘weaker’ leagues stronger, giving them a better chance to compete – especially in the European competitions.
  3. Makes international tournaments more interesting.
  4. Your rivals have a better chance of acquiring these regens, making the game more challenging for you.

We think this is a great way to make career mode more interesting for those of you that play through multiple seasons. Let us know in the comments how you use this!

2019 Pre-Contract Players

The first season in FIFA 19 career mode is a great time, one of the biggest reasons is the amazing 2019 pre-contract players you could potentially sign.

2019 Pre-Contract Players:

To get you started, we’ve rounded up over sixty 2019 pre-contract players.

Goalkeepers (GK)

  • Iker Casillas really needs no introduction. He’s 37 now and playing for FC Porto but at 82 overall, could still do a job between the sticks for you.
  • Petr Cech. The 36 year old looks to have been overtaken by Bernd Leno at Arsenal. At 82 overall, surely their loss?
  • Alex Remiro is just about old enough to be snapped up on a pre-contract agreement. But considering the Bilbao stopper is 77 overall and has 83 potential, you’d be silly not to.
  • Alphonse Areola – Providing PSG don’t renew his contract, Areola is a great choice. Still only 25, he’s rated 81 but still has 85 potential.
  • Thomas Strakosha – The Lazio goalkeeper is a towering presence despite his young age. Already fit to be a first teamer at 81 overall, but has the potential to hit 86 eventually.

Right Backs (RB/RWB)

  • Ignazio Abate is 32 now so not a long-term option but at 77 OVR, he could do a job for many teams.
  • Rafael – Currently at OL but he’s still only 28 and has a respectable 79 rating.
  • De Marcos is a year older than Rafael but the Bilbao right back is still useful at 79 OVR.
  • Ibrahima Mbaye is one of the more interesting 2019 pre-contract players in our opinion. He’s 73 overall but he’s still only 24 years of age and has 80 potential.
  • Juanfran is 80 rated, but might not stay there for long considering he’s 33 now.
  • Antonio Valencia is arguably the best right back amongst the 2019 pre-contract players. Yes, he’s now 33, but an 81-rated right back would be an upgrade for most teams.

Left Backs (LB/LWB)

  • Ashley Young – also 33 with a 79 rating, you could poach Man United’s full backs in one go.
  • Fabio Coentrao has a few years on Young (30 years old) but shares his 79 rating.
  • Konstantinos Stafylidis is only 25 so can easily increase his 75 rating to 79. Currently playing for FC Augsburg.
  • Alberto Moreno – The Liverpool right back is 77 OVR but at 26 years old, he can still grow to 79.
  • Nacho Monreal could be an excellent addition to your team. 30 isn’t a terrible age for an 80 rated left back.
  • Filipe Luis has to be the top pick for the 2019 pre-contract players in the left back position. Sure, his age (33) surprised us too, but he is 85 overall.

Centre Backs (CB)

  • David Luiz is a great defensive option at 83 overall, and is handy from free kicks. Not bad for a 31 year old.
  • Victor Ruiz is an alternative if you don’t need a free kick taker. 82 overall but can still reach 83 as he is only 29.
  • Pepe – providing he doesn’t retire in the first year (he’s 35 years old), an 85 rated centre back could really help your defence.
  • Vincent Kompany is also 85 overall but at 32 years old, you might get more value for money – depending on his wage demands.
  • Jan Vertonghen – The Spurs man is currently the highest rated premier league centre back in FIFA 19. An 87 rating is incredible, and he’s still only 31.
  • Diego Godin takes top spot among the centre backs of our 2019 pre-contract players list. Still has a few years left in him at 32, a 90 rated centre back is too good to pass up.

Defensive Midfielders (CDM)

  • Bastian Schweinsteiger – Ageing players don’t tend to move back to Europe from the MLS, but 80 rated CDM is certainly an option for you.
  • Igor Denisov is also 34 years old with an 80 rating.
  • Lassana Diarra also has an 80 rating but is a year younger than the previous two players.
  • Russell Canouse – This could be a shrewd acquisition. The 72 rated CDM is only 23, so should hit his 80 potential comfortably.
  • Nemanja Gudelj78 to 80 overall isn’t huge growth, but at 27, he’s a solid option that won’t decline immediately.
  • Erick Pulgar is another option with growth potential. The 24 year old starts out at 77 but can hit 82.
  • Rosberto Dourado won’t necessarily be a long-term fix, but if you could use an 82 rated CDM, check him out.
  • Daniele De Rossi offers the highest rating (83) of the defensive midfielders, but is 35 years old.

Central Midfielders (CM)

  • Hector Herrera – 28 years old with an 81 rating.
  • Ander Herrera is a year older than his namesake but also has an 81 rating.
  • Nemanja Radoja – The 25 year old is a good option with growth prospects. Currently 76 rated but has 81 potential.
  • Moussa Dembele is still only 31 but has an impressive 83 rating.
  • Cesc Fabregas – exactly the same as Dembele, 83 rating at 31 years old.
  • Aaron Ramsey might be a better alternative, despite his 82 rating. He can reach 83 overall as he is still only 27.
  • Adrien Rabiot would be our recommendation. 83 is already a great overall for a midfielder, but he’s only 23 and can reach 87.

Attacking Midfielders (CAM)

  • Nicolas Lodeiro – the first CAM on our list has a 78 rating and is 29 years of age.
  • Hatem Ben Arfa is slightly better at 79 overall, but he is 31 years old now.
  • Roman Eremenko matches Ben Arfa, 79 rating and 31 years old.
  • Diego Valeri – better stats at 80 overall but is 32 years old.
  • Miguel Almiron – the best CAM of the 2019 pre-contract players. The 24 year old already has an 80 rating, but his potential is 84.

Right Midfielders and Right Wingers (RM/RW)

  • Susaeta is 30 years old but has a decent 80 rating.
  • Eduardo Salvio could be valuable considering his 81 rating, he’s still only 28.
  • Jason is a great option if you’re looking for some growth potential. He’s only 24, so his 75 rating can increase to 81 within a few seasons.
  • Marlos – The Shakhtar man is 30 years old but has an impressive 82 rating.
  • Juan Mata – Another option for Man United. Could be a brilliant addition to your team considering his 83 rating, and isn’t too old at 30.
  • Arjen Robben – Yes, he’s 34 so going to decline and retire soon, but he’s 84 rated. He could be very useful, even if just for one season.

Left Midfielders and Left Wingers (LM/LW)

  • Manuel Fernandes – the Lokomotiv man is 32 years old and has an 81 rating.
  • Mathieu Valbuena is also rated 81, but is a few years older at 34.
  • Jordan Lukaku is your man if you want a younger winger who can grow. Rated 77 overall, the 24 year old can reach 81.
  • Yacine Brahimi has an amazing 85 rating and is only 28 years old, not bad for a pre-contract player.
  • Koke is even better. Also rated 85, but can grow to 86 overall. Surprisingly, he’s still only 26.
  • Anthony Martial is undoubtedly the best left winger among the 2019 pre-contract players, providing you can afford his wages. He’s only 23, so his 84 rating could easily grow to his 90 potential.

Strikers

  • Olivier Giroud is only 32 years old and has an 82 rating. An excellent option if you like to play direct football.
  • Max Kruse is also 82 overall, but is slightly younger at 30 years of age.
  • Sebastian Giovinco also has an 82 rating and is 31. It’s worth mentioning that he ranked pretty high on our list of the best free kick takers in FIFA 19.
  • Divock Origi is still only 23, and has 82 potential. He’s currently rated 77 overall.
  • Jonathan Calleri can also grow from 77 to 82. The Deportivo Alaves striker is 25 years old.
  • Aduriz – if he hasn’t announced his retirement in the first season, he’s bound to in the next season. 83 rated but he is 37 years old.
  • Mario Balotelli – Why always him? 28 years old but still has an impressive 83 rating.
  • Munir is the best striking option here, and completes our 2019 pre-contract players list. The 23 year old is currently 77 rated, but has 83 potential.
